More Matric passes should mean more jobs says ACDP

“The ACDP congratulates all the Grade 12 learners and teachers who worked hard in 2013,” said Gauteng leader of the ACDP Dr Lydia Meshoe (MPL) today. “Many learners studied by candle-light; many teachers reached into their own pockets to help their struggling students.”

“We congratulate Free State for achieving top results, Mpumalanga for a 7,6% improvement in its pass-rate and the Gauteng region of Sedibeng for its 90,7% pass-rate.”

“The real test, however, of the quality of our Grade 12 examinations lies in the number and quality of jobs landed by our Matriculants and their success in tertiary level studies. Unfortunately, the rise in our Matric pass-rate has not been accompanied by a significant drop in unemployment, or the approval of our universities.”
