Small child’s death could have been avoided – ACDP Youth Foundation

The ACDP Youth Foundation is beyond sad by the unfortunate passing of a Grade R pupil, Michael Komape of Mahlodumela Primary school near Polokwabe (Limpopo). Michael fell into a pit latrine at school.

Kagiso Monyadiwa, ACDP-YF President said: “This is a tragic death of a young boy that could have been avoided if Limpopo province prioritised school infrastructure. There are more cases of unsafe infrastructure at school. We feel hurt that it takes a child’s death for people to look into the safety of our young ones at schools. This is something that exposes lack of leadership and capacity by those entrusted with the RESPONSIBILITY to run our country.”

Monyadiwa went on to say: “I recall our state president, J.G. Zuma saying ‘We are going to eradicate mud schools, but we’re not in a hurry because no one is going to lead, but the ANC’ “. The ACDP youth foundation would like to find out from the Honorable President if his multi-million rand Nkandla estate is his number one priority while our young ones are studying in schools that are in very bad conditions?

The ACDP Youth Foundation is of a view that the upgrade of all mud and shack schools, to fully functional, safe buildings, should be made number one priority so that incidents like this one should not be experienced again. Let us give an African child the best education possible.

Moyadiwa stated: “Our sincere condolences to family, friends and school mates of our spiritual brother Michael.”
