ACDP Votes against the Health Budget

In Parliament today Cheryllyn Dudley MP for the African Christian Democratic Party and member of the Portfolio Committee on Health gave the following speech registering a vote against the Department’s Budget:

Madam Speaker/Chair

49% of the budget for Health Programmes goes to Maternal, Child and Women’s Health and this is where Termination of Pregnancy is not only implemented, but promoted. To date 220,888 unborn babies who were created in every detail by God with a specific plan and purpose for their lives are being butchered and thrown in the trash and government is paying for these barbaric deeds with our tax money. Abortion is referred to in this house as “saving women’s lives” but this gross distortion of the facts cannot be backed up by the statistics quoted.

The African Christian Democratic Party will not condone these atrocities and once again has no option but to vote against the Health budget.

The war against HIV/Aids will only be won by a dramatic change in sexual behaviour, and Planned Parenthood and Lovelife’s offensive material, in schools and through the media, and indiscriminate promotion of condoms, fuel this out of control fire. Children need to learn about self-respect and dignity, not how to have sex, lesbian oral sex, orgasm, access abortion clinics, masturbate and gay cruise.

Lovelife, an off-shoot of PPASA receives 25 million Rand per annum through the health budget to implement its own program, Planned Parenthoods’ Lifeskills education in schools receives an additional 14% of the health budget and condoms make up a large percentage. Now “One-Stop shops” for health service provision are being high-jacked by PPASA to facilitate abortion and provide another avenue whereby PPASA will access the Health budget which is fast becoming indistinguishable from PPASA itself.

Paying lip-service to abstinence, is a sham. Where is the funding for organisations who, not only promote the only real prevention of Aids, which is, sexual abstinence before marriage and faithfulness in marriage, but believe our children are able to achieve such goals?

Now Government has put Lovelife and Kaizer Foundation, in charge of it’s R157million HIV/Aids budget and all foreign donor funding as well. These organisations are notoriously anti-family values, and the ACDP is concerned that NGO’s who promote family values will be further discriminated against.
