SACC: define role
Selby Khumalo MP
The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) calls on the South African Council of Churches to define its role in the new South Africa. This follows yesterdays debate on enews at 7, which featured the SACC and a representative from a Gay lobby group.
The ACDP is extremely disappointed at the neutral stance taken by the South African Council of Churches on the issue regarding same sex marriages.
Last nights debate on e TV was supposed to feature those who are for and those against same-sex marriages. To the disappointment of the ACDP, and to all those against same-sex marriages, the SACC took a very neutral stance on the matter. This did not help the purpose of the debate on e TV. Those opposed to same-sex marriages were not represented on that debate said Selby Khumalo ACDP MP and National Spokesperson.
The ACDP is surprised that the SACC did not (during the news show) represent some of their member churches views that are known to be opposed to same-sex marriages.
SACC should help to define their role in the post-apartheid South Africa. The country needs a Christian Church that will always be prophetic on issues of morals and ethics from a theo-centric and biblical view.
