PAP MISSION TO DAFUR COMPLETE
Members of the Pan African Parliament have completed their observer mission in Dafur, Sudan. Last month, PAP dispatched an observer team to investigate the situation in Dafur. The seven-member team arrived in their home countries last week.
The team is now in the process of preparing a report on its findings.
ACDP MP and Foreign Affairs Spokesperson, Mighty Madasa, is the only South African whos part of the observer mission. 6 others from other African countries are also part of the team.
The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) has expressed its support for the PAP mission to Sudan.
PAP decided to send a team of observers to Dafur, during its 2nd session in Gauteng, South Africa several weeks ago.
The task team met with Sudanese Government Officials, Dafurs Parliamentary Caucus and representatives of International and non-governmental organisations, as well as Humanitarian organisations. They also visited Refugee Camps and Internal Displaced Camps throughout the region.
Meetings and briefings with the African Union (AU) also took place.
The team is expected to make recommendations on measures to be taken to solve the conflict in the region.
