ACDP calls for speedy conclusion of investigation into the Mpumalanga Matric exam scandal

The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) calls for a speedy conclusion of the investigation into the Matric exam scandal in Mpumalanga. This follows today's meeting by Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Education, in which the Senior Certificate exam results were discussed.
"So far, the Department of Education has handled the Mpumalanga case responsibly. But the investigation needs to be concluded speedily, so that students found to be in the clear are not disadvantaged." said Cheryllyn Dudley, ACDP MP and spokesperson on Education.
"It was made clear in today's meeting that arrests will take place, since criminal activity seems to be evident in Mpumalanga."
"The English Standard Grade and Maths results indicate that literacy and maths still need to be the focus of attention for this year."
"The ACDP congratulates the country's schools that have achieved a 100 percent pass rate and other schools that showed significant improvements."
"These results are a reflection of the hard work and dedication shown by school teachers and principals - they too need to be congratulated."
"In my recent visit to the Eastern Cape it was evident that, at schools (catering for disadvantaged children) in this province, teachers are dedicated and committed to achieving results so that children can access greater opportunities. This, despite difficulties like overcrowded classrooms and unpaid subsidies."
