ACDP disappointed with courts' ruling on disclosure of politcal party funding

The ACDP would like to express its disappointment at the ruling of the Cape High Court to dismiss the application by the Institute for Democracy in South Africa (Idasa) compelling political parties to reveal information about their funding.

The ACDP has from the beginning declared that compelling political parties to release information about their sources of funding was imperative because transparency and accountability to voters are crucial elements of a democratic system.

To show our commitment to this, we, as a party disclosed details of our sources of funding. We will continue to encourage other political parties to do the same.

We urge Idasa to lodge an appeal in this regard.
