Abortion back on the agenda

Cheryllyn Dudley, MP

The ACDP congratulates the twelve-month long efforts of the Commercial Branch of the Durban SAPS that has led to a Durban doctor, Vikash Nundlall, a nurse and two employees from the Durban Rose Clinic being charged on various counts of contravening the Termination of Pregnancy Act and the Medicines Act.

We are aware that, at the same time, there is an investigation into the matter of a then Durban North schoolgirl undergoing the trauma of an illegal third-trimester abortion at the very same Durban Rose Clinic. We trust that the investigation will be just as thorough.

The ACDP also commends and congratulates Doctors for Life for their courage and commitment to protecting the lives of unborn children. In doing so, they also protect vulnerable young girls and women who are traumatized by the circumstances they find themselves in.

This sort of action ensures vulnerable girls and women will no longer be taken advantage of.
