ANC government has a lot to answer - Oilgate

The ACDP finds that the detailed report in the Mail & Guardian regarding Oilgate will serve as a platform to public bodies such as the Public Protector in carrying out its probe in a manner that will best serve South Africa from the evil of corruption.

The ANC government has – for a long time - been talking about the fight to root out corruption in government and public structures; this report casts a dark shadow on President Mbeki’s demonstration of his commitment to fight corruption when he released former Deputy President Jacob Zuma following his being implicated in fraud and corruption.

The ANC may try to divert our attention from the contents of the report but this does not take away from the fact that there are many questions to be answered.

We trust that the Public Protector’s report back to Parliament will be as detailed and provide the nation with some answers.
