More emphasis on teacher
Cheryllyn Dudley MP

The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) welcomes the Western Cape Province’s decision to keep thousands of teaching posts. The decision was announced yesterday.

The ACDP reiterates its call for an increased Education budget. And we maintain that there should be continued emphasis on the role of teachers.

“This is a positive step towards education. We can only grow our economy if we have education, which starts with teachers.” said Cheryllyn Dudley MP, ACDP spokesperson on Education Matters.

“We admit that we need papers, pencils and better infrastructure, but without the teacher in the classroom, the learner is unable to learn. We can’t afford to short-change education” said Cheryllyn Dudley.

‘We want to see the continued emphasis on the role of teachers. Once this is seen to, the infrastructure and other elements can follow.”

“The move to maintain and increase the teaching positions in the Western Province, is a start to improving the status of education”
