1. ACDP welcomes Bafokeng King Leruo Tshekedi Molotlegi
Media Statement by MPL Lydia Meshoe
15 August 2003
The ACDP welcomes the inauguration of the new king of the Bafokeng royal
family King Leruo Tshekedi Molotlegi.
We trust that his inauguration will further enhance the traditional
institution in South Africa and trust that his leadership will be blessed
with much wisdom, as he leads the Bafokeng tribe to greatness.
We congratulate King Molotlegi on his inauguration and also wish to honour
the Queen Mother Dr Semane Molotlegi for raising her son to fulfil his
God-given purpose and destiny in leading the Bafokeng tribe.
The ACDP wishes to confirm its support for traditional leadership and tribal
authority in the North West Province and throughout South Africa, and calls
on the government to give proper recognition to the role and function of
traditional leaders in South Africa.
The ACDP believes that the preservation of the traditional institution of
governance will play an important role in moral regeneration and maintenance
of family values.

2. ACDP has revealed private donations
Media Statement
15 August 2003
Legal action to compel the African Christian Democratic Party to reveal
sources of private funding is unnecessary, as the party has already complied
with the Institute for Democracy in South Africa's request for this
information.
Reacting to a report in Friday's Mail and Guardian stating that none of
South Africa's political parties had disclosed their sources of private
funding, ACDP National Treasurer Solms Painter said that he had already
informed Idasa that the party had not received any private donations larger
than R20 000.
"We complied with their request by sending through our information in
January this year after asking for an extension. I have sent correspondence
to Idasa three times already, most recently to let them know that have not
received any reply from them as yet," Painter said.
"We support the process of accountability and transparency and we have
cooperated with the process so far. We encourage other parties to do the
same in the interests of democracy."
