Pornographic Life Skills Curriculum - ACDP Notice of Motion

Rev K R Meshoe MP – ACDP

Thursday, 25 October 2001

Rev Kenneth Meshoe, President of the African Christian Democratic Party will give the following Notice of Motion in Parliament today:

That the House:

1. Expresses it’s outrage at reports that immoral male teachers who disregard ethics in the teaching profession are raping schoolgirls, impregnating them and in some instances, even infecting them with HIV/AIDS;
2. Notes with great concern that the increase of rape of schoolgirls by teachers coincides with the introduction of pornographic LifeSkills flip charts in our schools;
3. Believes that encouraging children who are as young as 8 years, to discuss sexual intercourse, to participate, experiment and apply what they have learned while using these pornographic flip charts is going to make little fornicators out of school children and also increase the incidents of rape of school children;
4. Remembers that two female schoolteachers forced school children as young as 8 years to have sex in a classroom in Mpumalanga about 2 years ago;

Therefore calls on the Minister of Education to:

1. Withdraw all the immoral and pornographic LifeSkills charts from schools, especially Primary Schools;
2. Stop the abuse and encouragement of sexual activity of schoolchildren by those schoolteachers who are perverts and use pornography to seduce innocent, unsuspecting children.
3. Stop teaching primary school children how to put on and insert condoms but rather teach them the most reliable safeguard against HIV/AIDS, which is abstinence from pre-marital sex.
4. Stop all sexuality education classes and encourage parents to do the job they do better than schoolteachers which is teaching their children about sex;
5. Acknowledge that his department made a mistake by encouraging school children to apply in action what they have learned in their LifeSkills classes “back at home, at school and in daily life”, which simply stated means “go and have illicit sex”.
6. Allow parents and members of parliament to have sight of any printed or electronic material on sex before it is exposed to schoolchildren.
