Homosexual "Families" cannot replace a Mother and a Father
Cheryllyn Dudley MP
Monday, 6 August 2001
On Tuesday the 7th of August, the High Court will consider whether a
lesbian couple should be allowed to co-adopt children. Cheryllyn Dudley
MP for the African Christian Democratic Party said today that a
dangerous game is being played simply to advance the "homosexual agenda"
with horrendous potential consequences. She said, "children are far too
precious and vulnerable for us too allow experiments of social
engineering to take place on them."
Mrs. Dudley said that according to statistics, children who grow up in
single-sex parented homes are clearly disadvantaged and the consequences
are often tragic. 63% of youth suicides, 85% of all children that
exhibit behavioral disorders, 80% of rapists motivated with displaced
anger, 71% of all high school dropouts, 75% of all adolescent patients
in drug abuse centers, and 85% of all youths sitting in prisons, grew up
in fatherless homes. With these sort of statistics there is no room for
coincidence.
Mrs. Dudley went on to say that children who grow up without a mother,
face problems no less debilitating. She said, "It is unthinkable that a
court ruling would attempt to remedy a situation by pretending that
homosexual "families" would suffice. This would only exacerbate the
problems."
Silent placard demonstrations against homosexual co-adoption will be
held in Cape Town, Pretoria and Bloemfontien on Tuesday, 7 August. The
demonstration organised by Africa Christian Action will take place from
9.15 to 12.00. The Cape Town demonstration will be at the top of
Adderley Street. All those wanting to participate and take a stand
against homosexual co-adoptions are encouraged to meet in front of St
Georges Cathedral. Banners and literature will be available.
