Serial Rapist must be prosecuted

Cheryllyn Dudley MP - ACDP
The African Christian Democratic Party strongly opposes the postponement
of the Johannesburg serial rapist case. The suspect, labelled South
Africa's most notorious child serial rapist has been granted final
postponement until 21 September, due to his attorney's busy schedule.
ACDP MP Cheryllyn Dudley said that according to reports several victims
have positively identified the suspect who was arrested on May 7th and
charged with 32 counts of rape and 26 counts of abduction.
Mrs Dudley said that bail should not even be considered as an option for
this notorious child serial rapist. She said, "The ACDP believes that
crimes such as rape, armed robbery, car hijacking and first degree
murder should be denied bail. Many offenders repeat crimes while they
are out on bail and some intimidate the victims and witnesses who are
planning to testify against them. Witness Protection Programmes make it
even more necessary to deny some offenders the opportunity to apply for
Bail."
Mrs Dudley added that in Ecclesiastes 8 vs.11 the question is asked,
"Why do people commit crimes so readily?" Then answers, "Because crime
is not punished quickly enough." She asked what could be clearer than
this. Mrs Dudley said that in order to combat crime we need justice.
Stricter sentences she said, including the death penalty, are necessary
deterrents for the protection of law-abiding citizens, women and
children.
