Four persons were confirmed to have sustained fatal injuries, with firefighters searching for six others who are reported to be missing. The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined.

15 firefighters with three fire engines were at the incident. Dudley said, “The ACDP salutes the brave firefighters on the scene and all the men and women throughout the country risking their lives to protect others. We also mourn the tragic loss of firefighters in Gauteng yesterday.”
