The African National Congress (ANC) cannot stand against gender-based violence and the exploitation of women,…
During this 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children we remember the lives of women in our nation who became part of the gruesome statistics of violence.
The term femicide refers to gender-based violence – being killed, maimed or hurt because you are a woman.
The outrage of protests in 2019 expressed the deep anger women felt; their anger at feeling targeted and vulnerable without protection.
This 16-day campaign focuses on raising awareness and addressing the root causes of violence against women and children. Collectively, we must build towards a society that protects the vulnerable and creates safer places and spaces for our women and children.
Over these 16-days, the ACDP remembers the families and loved ones who had to endure the excruciating pain of losing someone they loved, and will forever love, to such heinous acts of violence! To every family, we salute your courage and your resilience. They will never be forgotten – every name is a life worth remembering. This nation must remember the fallen, by building for the living!
Jesse Hess will feature in the ACDP’s campaign material over this period. She lives on, because we will never forget!
